Cassava [Manihot Esculenta (Crantz)] Germplasm for Effective Conservation

چکیده

An experiment was conducted to characterize the cassava germplasm of Council for Scientific and Industrial Research, Plant Genetic Resources Research Institute (CSIR-PGRRI), Ghana help in effective conservation. A total 210 accessions being conserved at field genebank CSIR – PGRRI were used October, 2014 data collected 2015 on five morphological traits comprising plant height, growth type, height first branch, levels branching branch angle. The revealed variability among accessions. Based variability, classified into four categories namely short-spreading, tall-spreading, short-non-spreading tall-nonspreading. Four different planting distances suggested groups recommended 75 x cm, 100 cm 150 based spreading nature Cassava from should not be planted adjacent each other avoid suppressing weaker ones.
